Surgical Extractions & Wisdom Teeth Removal
Most tooth extractions are straight forward, non surgical procedures. However, if your oral discomfort proves to be an irreparable broken tooth, a compromised tooth still below the gum line, or impacted wisdom teeth, then extraction is a minor surgical procedure. Our dentists gently perform these oral surgeries here in the office while administering anesthesia that keeps you comfortable.
We also offer nitrous gas (laughing gas) or prescribe medication that will make you feel much more relaxed and comfortable during the procedure.
What is Bone Grafting?
Dental bone grafting is a procedure used to rebuild and strengthen the jawbone, which can weaken due to tooth loss, injury, or gum disease. The process involves placing bone material, either from your body, a donor, or a synthetic source, into the area where bone is missing. Over time, your body naturally fuses this new material with your existing bone, creating a stronger, more stable foundation. This is important because when you lose a tooth, the bone in that area starts to shrink, which can lead to further tooth loss or make it difficult to place dental implants in the future.
Bone grafting is often crucial if you’re considering dental implants, as implants need sufficient bone structure to anchor them securely. Without enough bone, the implant may not hold, which could lead to complications or failure. Additionally, bone grafts help maintain the natural shape of your face and jawline, which can become sunken or misshapen if bone loss is severe. Ultimately, bone grafting supports better oral health, ensuring your teeth, gums, and jaw remain strong and functional.
